Lovage and celery are closely related plants that are grown similarly. Celery is grown for its stems, and lovage is an herb grown for its leaves and stems (which are good in soups and other foods). Both plants can be grown from seed in the garden, but they grow slowly and are more likely to be successful if seedlings are grown indoors using seed starting soil pods to a height of about 12 cm (5 in) and then transplanted.
